Interval training at Crook o' Lune

After several weeks of varied interval training sessions I finally did one with a heart rate monitor. Using various web based calculators for maximum heart rate I get figures of between 169 and 174, depending which piece of research the calculation is based on. The graphic above has max rate set at 168, which is what the Garmin 305 defaulted to after I entered my age. Clearly I went well over that limit! My max must really be in the mid to high 170s. However, that's not something I should be pushing too hard too often. I will keep a close eye on future traces, which ought at least to record a gradual improvement of recovery rate as training progresses.
